Anita Ford Saunders, APR, a seasoned writer, producer and broadcast professional is a veteran in the communication and public relations sectors. She has over 30 years experience creating and implementing strategic communications plans for corporate and community-based organizations.
In 2002, Anita launched Anita Ford Saunders Communication concentrating on strategic communications and public relations for individuals and organizations with a special interest in building the communication capacity of organizations.
Previously, Anita served as Senior Communications Officer and Consultant for the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Greater Hartford’s community-wide charitable endowment and CT Public Television & Radio where she held the position of Vice President of Corporate Communications for the statewide public broadcasting network.
While at CPTV, Anita was responsible for the implementation of strategic promotion for the premier of UConn Women’s Basketball on CPTV. During its second year as the “Television Broadcast Home of UConn Women’s Basketball” CPTV won a Connecticut Innovation Award.
In addition to her work at CPTV, Anita perfected her craft at WFSB-TV 3, WVIT-NBC 30 and television stations in Washington, DC, Michigan, and Massachusetts.
Her collaborative work earned her Gold and Silver Mercury Awards from the CT Valley Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She has been nominated for Emmy Awards seven times and won three Emmys. In May 2001, Anita received a first place award for excellence in journalism from the Society for Professional Journalist.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from American University and a Master of Science degree in Organizational and Managerial Communication from Central Connecticut State University. She has earned the designation of APR, Accredited in Public Relations, from the Universal Accreditation Board of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
